In 1991, Lotus exported the Elan M100 to the US and Canada.
Only the Turbo models were exported as the price difference between Normally Aspirated (NA) and Turbo models was fairly small.

Lotus reasoned (wisey) that nobody would buy the less powerful car for almost the same price.
